Abre en 1910, en Corrientes 126, como Café Imperial Cinematográfico. En 1912, abre otro salón en Corrientes 451 como Biógrafo Imperial. En 1917 pasa a Corrientes 425. En abril de 1931, por la empresa de Max Glucksmann “Exhibidora AAA” (cines Capitol y Palace), abre reformado como Cine Imperial. Muy destacable la fachada del Imperial, por el Art Decó, con sus detalles que emocionaron al arquitecto catalán Oriol Bohigas en su visita a Rosario. Se fusiona la AAA con United Cinema, cierra un mes y se reforma el equipo sonoro, proyector y pantalla. Reabre el 25 de diciembre de 1986 con “Alien, el regreso”. Sala de 1.000 butacas, la primera de Rosario con aire acondicionado central. Cierra el 2 de diciembre de 1987.

The entrance foyer to the Odeon in Portsmouth is currently the only part of the building in use (2010) as a shop. The rest of the art deco 1936 cinema is derelict, although the interior has been greatly altered over the years. Demolition has been rumoured since long before the cinema closed in 2008.

A scanned negative of the Savoy / ABC / Cannon in Portsmouth showing how the below balcony mini's extended into the auditorium, reducing the size of the screen in the main, former balcony ABC 1 cinema. Most of the art deco plasterwork however survived, albeit painted out.

The Savoy Cinema in Portsmouth opened in July 1937 designed by the ABC circuits house architect W R Glen. It was tripled in 1982 reducing the 1,911 capacity to 542 + 253 + 196. All closed during the 1990's and the building has now been demolished.

One of the two below balcony mini cinemas at the Odeon Portsmouth. Note the cut-away beam to allow projection to the screen. Each seated 132, all are now derelict as the cinema closed in January 2008.

The main No. 1 screen of the Odeon Portsmouth as seen in 1986. Opened in December 1936 and designed by Andrew Mather, the Odeon was tripled in 1973, with (like the Savoy ABC in the town) the mini cinemas protruding obtrusively into the main auditorium. The Odeon was later, in 1990, further altered when a wall was built at the edge of the balcony and a new cinema constructed in the front stalls. All closed in 2008.

Jan and Kjeld Wennick were only 14 and 16 years old when they hit it big with the classic Banjo Boy. In the early 1960's the two brothers from Copenhagen performed their hits in several schlager films.

Schlager singer and actor Rex Gildo (1939-1999) was the German Cliff Richard. As a teen idol in the 1960’s and 1970’s he sold over 25 million records and starred in a dozen films.
